Hey Tampa Bay! It’s been awhile since I have posted content to the blog. Work and life had bigger priorities – can you relate? Anyway, my daughter and I had a great conversation tonight about goal setting and I thought I would share a few highlights from our conversation.
Reflection – Taking time to reflect on goals from the past, we started by understanding what worked and what didn’t work with previous goals.
Declare Your Priorities – Next we took a few minutes to brainstorm priorities we wanted to focus on, so we could turn them into goals for 2025.
SMART Goals – You’ve likely heard about writing goals SMART, but just in can you’ve been living under a rock 🙂 A SMART goal is defined as: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-Bound. Pretty straightforward, right? If you can check off all 5 of those criteria, your goal is a SMART goal!
Obstacles and Habits – After we wrote a few SMART goals, we identified the obstacles that would reduce the likelihood of success and noted specific habits that would aid in achieving the what we set.
Vision Board – Gracie left our discussion with homework. She will be creating a vision board over the next few weeks to display a beautiful and eye-catching poster with detailed pictures that represent what she wants to achieve.
Increasing Productivity is often a popular goal, especially for those who work from home. If this is something you struggle with, I encourage you to check out one of my older posts: How to be more productive when working from home.
I have always enjoyed setting goals, whether they be an annual New Year tradition creating resolutions, or often times mid-year goal setting in some area of my life. I like how goals keep me on track and focused on what’s important! I also like trying different tools when goal setting. In my next post, I plan to share some of these tools I have tried, what worked for me, and what didn’t. Stay tuned! If you just can’t wait until next week, here are a couple “must-haves” to start the year off right:
My favorite desk calendar for jotting quick notes and reminders.
I love a dry erase board, and these markers are the best!
We all have year end filing! So many have gone digital, and while I am working on making that a reality this year, I still have files that need to stay organized. Each new year, I purchase these boxes to safely and neatly store last year’s papers.
