Your office space should fulfill one goal: To motivate and inspire you to work your hardest. Whether you care for personal trinkets, minimalism design, or a cozy work atmosphere, your desk space should reflect what best motivates you to get to the bottom line: Kicking butt ALL day long!
Did you know that your work environment can have a huge effect on your psyche, both in terms of happiness and productivity? A 2010 experiment found that: Employees with control over the design of their space were healthier, happier, & were 32% more productive. Share on X
If you can’t achieve natural sunlight or feng-shui in your work space, as I mentioned here, don’t fret… There are other steps to take to “YOU-ify” your space! I love these picks!
- I Am Very Busy: But seriously. So busy. Let the people know you’re a powerhouse with this cheeky slogan!
- The Confidence Code— The science & Art of Self-Assurance: What Women Should Know: Style your desk with some powerful reading during your down time. If all else fails, it serves as great motivation to just keep going.
- Weekly Schedule Desk Notepad: Let your schedule stare at you without having to access your Google Calendar.
- Old School Wall Clock: Add a pop of color and escape the digital world with a fun, bright wall clock.
- #WhistleWhileYouWork Pencil Set: Sometimes you just need some cheerful motivation to finish (or start!) your next big project.
- Faux Succulents Terrarium: Instead of the standard fern, get a whole world with a compact terrarium. Bonus: you never need to water it.
Now, dress up your desk and get to work! P.S., be sure to share your favorite desk accessory below.
I highly recommend you must read the eBook on what you need to have for starting a business in Tampa, I believe you’ll get a lot out of it. If you haven’t claimed yours, go and grab it now for free! See you inside – I can’t wait to start working with you! We’re better together!
I’ve always been aware of how much my surrounding effects my mood. These are great for keeping you calm & focused
All great tips Holly. I like the terrarium. Even I can’t possible kill that!
Back in the days when I was working in a local authority we had to do a lot of hot-desking (where teams of people share a desk). Judging from the statistic you mentioned, perhaps it would have been more cost effective to have more desks but allow people to customise their workspace.
Exactly– it’s no surprise that people are motivated by their own personalization. I imagine it helps spike your personal creativity. Yes, they even make the terrarium’s with fake plants… voila! LOL
I love these. So Girley and chic. Great post Holly.
I love to have a little girly fun in the office. The whole #GirlBoss trend gets me 🙂
This post is so perfectly timed. I am in the process of designing my home office and I got a few good ideas now. Love the terrarium idea – I am terrible with plants but love the look.
The terrarium is fake, too! Only $10 at target. Such a nice clean look. I find so much desk inspiration on Pinterest… it’s one of my favorite ways to waste time 😉
What great ideas! Color and greenery really perk up an office space. Humor – the pencils – is good too!
I love those pencils! I want to buy them. A good conversation starter, too!
When I used to work in an office, the first thing I always did was personalize my work space. I found it very beneficial to make a rather boring sterile environment much warmer and friendly. My area screamed “you can approach…I’m very friendly” or at least that was my hope. People always were stopping by asking about the photos, knick knacks etc., all of course great conversation starters that helped cultivate a better “work family”.
Love it!! No doubt– this does not surprise me. Sterile environments are just so DRAB! Why not drum up office enthusiasm and have your employees really enjoy the space their in.
Pencil? What’s that? 😉 These are great suggestions, Holly, and it reminds me that I need to do some personalization in my office, too. I’m planning to paint at least one wall “money green.” How’s that for inspiration? 😉
So true.. employees who have a say about the layout or design of their space will feel more empowered and be more productive. BTW… LOVE the calendar wrist rest thing… great post… love it!
