3 New Projects Breaking Ground in Tampa

Tampa is an exciting place to be. As I’ve shared in past posts, there are several new initiatives across the city that make it a thriving, growing and exciting place to put down your roots and grow your business. You’ll hear me say this again and again, but it remains true… I love my city!  Here’s a peek at the top 3 projects to recently break ground in Tampa Bay. Share on X

1. Simon Properties Tampa Premium Outlets

The new premium outlet broke ground in mid-December,  located at the intersection of Interstate 75 and State Road 56 in Wesley Chapel. Simon Property has been actively capitalizing on growth opportunities in top markets worldwide, paying $14.6 million for the property in early October. This speaks highly of the current climate of growth in Tampa Bay! The outlet will house a diversified tenant roster of over 110 retailers, and has an expected opening date of October 2015. Happy Shopping!

2. Channelside’s newest taco and tequila lounge

The man with the billion dollar vision chips away, with his first project in the heart of Channelside Plaza. The new tenant? A 6,000-square-foot tequila and taco bar (Hablo Taco) that is set to open February 4th… Perfect for pre-Lightning game fiestas! However, Hablo Tacos comprise just a tiny portion of the 3 million square feet of office, retail and residential space on nearly 25 vacant acres that Vinik and his team have assembled over the last several years. Cheers!

3.  TIA Expansion project

The end of 2014 marked Tampa International Airport’s $943 million construction project and the start of a massive transformation. My favorite part? TIA’s dedication to involving local breweries, restaurants, and retailers as tenants. The project is touted for its potential to create jobs and boost the local economy with about 9,000 short-term construction jobs, that could have a potential economic impact of up to $370 million for the Bay. Let the plane engine’s rev… we’re off!

  1. It must be very exciting both for businesses and residentials to live or work in a booming city. You highlight each project with your pulse on the town. Great job.

    1. Thanks, Ros! The expansion, renovation, and preservation of old buildings taking place is truly amazing to watch. In the next 5-8 years, I predict Tampa to be a top city to live in. So exciting!

  2. The more I read about Tampa, the more fun and industrial of a place it seems to live. That lounge looks like it is really going to be a good attraction to bring more business into the community. I’m sure all the locals love this blog as a go to place to find out what is hot and happening in the neighborhood!

    1. I knew you would think so, Beth! Our airport now is pretty clean and friendly. But with the update and renovation, it’s going to be just beautiful. I love that they are bringing local restaurants and bars in, too!

  3. Keeping my fingers crossed the Tampa Outlet project includes some decent restaurants or at least attracts some out parcel ones. We’re starving for good food in East Pasco 🙂
