Looking for details on the most popular neighborhoods in Hillsborough County? I’m here to share three of my favorite areas and “must-see” shops and restaurants in each area!
Seminole Heights
Seminole Heights is a historic neighborhood located in central Tampa. Housing many early 20th century bungalow homes and historic buildings, Seminole Heights boasts an eclectic mix of houses with unique charm and quaintness. An economic downturn in the late 90’s brought increased crime, but has since seen a resurgence with new gourmet eateries, brew pubs and independent businesses. This Bohemian community has a lively music and art scene.
Holly Jean’s Personal Favorite
Shop: Phoenix Glass Studio
Eatery: Ella’s Americana Folk Art Cafe
Happy Hour: Mermaid Gastro Tavern
Carrollwood
The Greater Carrollwood area is a well-maintained and stable community of homes built in the 80’s. Dale Mabry Highway N runs through the middle of the area, and is a main artery for shops and restaurants. Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is a main attraction in this area, with Busch Gardens close by, making Carrollwood a kid-friendly community.

Westchase
Westchase is a new and trendy area for families and young professionals. As a family oriented neighborhood, the area is situated with plenty of parks, sidewalks and a steady stream of runners. The Westchase Community Association is the most recognizable and largest deed-restricted community within the Westchase area, organized into 28 neighborhoods of contemporary homes. One of the wealthiest areas of Hillsborough County, Westchase has plenty of boutiques, restaurants, and bars.

If you’re interested in learning more about homes in these areas, reach out to me! While I do a lot of commercial real estate work, I love helping buyers find their dream home too! I live here. I know here.
Stay tuned next week—I’ll give you my top recommendation for neighborhoods in Pinellas County. Have a great day!
I highly recommend you must read the eBook on what you need to have for starting a business in Tampa, I believe you’ll get a lot out of it. If you haven’t claimed yours, go and grab it now for free! See you inside – I can’t wait to start working with you! We’re better together!
I’ve actually lived in two of the three areas you highlighted (formerly Carrollwood and presently Westchase) and would love to eventually move to the third (Seminole Heights) but when we downsize in the next year or two it will apparently be to an RV … or at least for 6-9 months. After that who knows 🙂
Seminole heights has become such a trendy area. Great art scene, more local and less chains. Love it :). The RV sounds like a fun adventure, to me!
Holly Jean — this makes me want to live in Tampa!
I love that you not only describe the areas, but give your “picks” for places to shop and eat and ENJOY the area.
Great job!
Thanks, Cathy! Working on Pinable graphics for my must-sees in each neighborhood. Thought it would give that personalized touch.
Off chance I’ll get to Tampa but when I do,, I know where to go. Nice layout.
And you’ll have to call me up for coffee! Thanks Roslyn. 🙂
I like the suggestions for places to go. I live in New Tampa and def (because I’m a shopaholic) say that Couture truly belongs on the list 🙂 I like Liz Murtaugh too but again, I am a shopaholic. Thanks for sharing your selections, I will have to check out the places in Seminole Heights, I’ve never been to any of them.
Hi Kellie! I know… such great finds;) Liz Murtaugh IS so cute! Great boho/western inspired wear.
If you go to any, DEFINITELY try Ella’s. They do something called Super Soul Sunday with a southern brunch, excellent Bloody’s, and live music. It’s a must!
Since I live in Arizona, I don’t get there often – well never. I would like to visit but since I’m not moving, I won’t get to use your great services. Sob!
Ok now I want to move to Tampa even more. I love that blue house in Seminole Heights. Sooo pretty.
Very cool. I was just googling Tampa neighborhoods today. I’m SOK and don’t often make it north of downtown I hate to admit, tho Ulele & changes to that area peak my curiosity.
Holly, these neighborhoods are nice! Which would you say is your favorite? I’m not looking to move, but I have family a few hours away from there. I’ll share with them.
Thanks, Holly, for sharing this post. Well-said!
First.. let me say that I love your cover picture for this blog… you did a fabulous job creating it.. I love it. I also love that you have provided great outlets for others in those areas… surely those folks would love it! I know I would have appreciated to having a must see, go or do list when I moved here, to Tx, from Va last year. Oh, one other thing.. change your links to open in a new window if they leave your website. I’ll blog on this next week and thanks for your comment on my blog. 😉
They are all so different! I guess that’s what makes the world go around, right? I like the feeling of an older, established neighborhood.
