For most companies, the first place that comes to mind when they think of local advertising is the newspaper. Tampa Bay’s newspaper, the Tampa Bay Times, is an award-winning newspaper that serves the broader Tampa Bay community. It’s a great way to get in front of a large number of people in Tampa.
Digital media has advanced a great deal in the last several years, and now many digital advertising opportunities allow you to segment by geography. On one hand, you can advertise on local media web sites like the Tampa Bay Times web site. But with bigger, global sites, you can make your money go even farther – sites like Facebook allow very targeted reach for nominal advertising prices. I find Twitter to be an effective marketing tool for driving new prospects to my website. Social media platforms can be overwhelming for the small business owner, but I have found that it is best practice to focus on 2 or 3 and get really good at those before venturing into other platforms.
