Tampa is an exciting place to be. As I’ve shared in past posts, there are several new initiatives across the city that make it a thriving, growing and exciting place to put down your roots. Downtown Tampa in particular is getting the royal treatment with several new options that will continue to make it an incredible place to be for businesses and families.
Perry Harvey Sr. Park Project
What was formerly the Bro Bowl, a gathering place for urban and suburban skateboarders, has been reimagined as a sprawling park (http://www.tampabay.com/opinion/editorials/editorial-new-skate-park-will-honor-tampas-past/2182064) with a skatepark at one end and large, open park spaces at the other end. To honor its historic origins park, the new park will also incorporate historical markers throughout to remind residents of the cultural and regional importance of the Bro Bowl.
High Speed Ferry Project
While still in early development, the ferry project just received a $4.8 million federal grant to explore feasibility for the proposed public and private ferry service. The ferry hopes to provide a strong transportation option between MacDill Air Force Base and Downtown Tampa. City officials have been clear that much work lies ahead, but hope that a high-speed ferry might be a part of Tampa’s landscape by fall of 2016.
Bicycle Lane Project
As bicycle transportation continues to increase across the country and within our great state of Florida, the city of Tampa is taking bike safety seriously and investing in the infrastructure that bikes need. Multi-use trails like the Courtney Campbell Causeway, a 5-mile paved pathway with sweeping waterway views, offer bicyclists a chance to explore the city or commute more easily on two wheels.
City officials in and around Tampa continue to add to the Tampa’s appeal with these and other projects that make Tampa such an exciting place to live and work!
