Are you ready?

M

Heads up, small biz owners!

Yesterday Google changed it’s algorithm, giving less visibility to sites that aren’t mobile friendly. If you host on a platform like Weebly or Squarespace, you’re A OK. If not, now is the time to double check that your site is optimized for mobile devices. As 50%+ of consumers are accessing web content via smartphones, Google is heavily focused on understanding mobile traffic and content.

Don't lose website traffic due to THIS major change! Click To Tweet

Heed the warning now with this initial change as future changes to come. Ultimately, optimizing your site will benefit you, as you create a better user experience for your customers.

  1. As soon as I learned of this I checked, hd friends check & we were good to go. It was sticky for awhile as our webmaster was trying best layouts, making changes, etc. We have a frequently changing website with new product uploads, so how we function on mobile has been important all along. We also saw an increase of mobile traffic following our google analytics.

  2. I attended a conference several years ago where one of the speakers predicted this and encouraged all of us to develop mobile-friendly sites. I immediately hired a tech VA who was skilled in this area and am so glad I did.

  3. I’ve been hearing about this a lot lately and I know I need to work on my website. I’m not ready yet but hopefully I will be soon.

  4. Thankfully I’m mobile, but with the number of people that are accessing mobile, this really makes sense. Although you run your site through a free “are you mobile friendly” checker, it’s also good to check what your site looks like on your phone, on different browsers and on a tablet. Good info you’re passing on!

  5. It’s surprising how many sites aren’t mobile friendly. Certain site that are frequently looked at when people are out and about should especially be reachable by a smartphone

  6. Thanks for passing on this good info. Funny that mobilegeddon occurred on Earth Day. It definitely depends on who your target audience is but most niches have people using their phones for surfing.

  7. I hate that the new mobile platform doesn’t show some aspects of my website, have to suck it up I guess.

  8. So important to be mobile friendly, and Google has now made it mandatory. All the website I’ve built have been on a responsive platform so they will adjust seamlessly to whatever device is used to access them.
